Most Common Doodle Behavioral Issues
The top behavioral problems we see are destructive chewing, excessive barking, jumping on people, and pulling on the leash. These usually happen because doodles have working dog genetics - they need a job to do. Without proper outlets, that energy comes out in ways you won't love.
Separation anxiety ranks high too. These dogs form intense bonds with their families, so being left alone can trigger panic. You'll see chewed doorframes, accidents in the house, or neighbors complaining about barking. Counter-surfing and stealing food is another biggie - doodles are tall enough to reach counters and smart enough to know that's where the good stuff lives.
Resource guarding can develop if not addressed early. This looks like growling over food bowls, toys, or even favorite spots on the couch.

Why F1 Generation Matters for Behavior
We Are Fine and dandy
We breed F1 AussieDoodles exclusively because the first cross between Australian Shepherd and Poodle gives you the most predictable temperament. You get the best of both breeds - the Aussie's loyalty and trainability combined with the Poodle's intelligence and lower shedding.
Later generations (F1B, F2, multigen) can be more unpredictable behaviorally. You might get a dog with extremely high Aussie drive that needs hours of work daily, or one with Poodle sensitivity that's easily overwhelmed. With F1s, you know what you're getting - moderate to high energy dogs that are highly trainable but need consistent exercise and mental stimulation.
This predictability makes it easier to prevent behavioral problems before they start, because we can give families realistic expectations about exercise needs and training requirements.

Preventing Problems Through Early Socialization
The key to avoiding most behavioral issues is what happens in the first 16 weeks of life. That's why our puppies are home-raised with extensive family socialization from birth. They're exposed to household noises, different people, and various experiences while their brains are most adaptable.
We start basic handling exercises early - touching paws, looking in ears, gentle restraint - so grooming and vet visits aren't traumatic later. Our puppies also get motion sickness prevention training, which helps with car anxiety that can develop into broader behavioral issues.
Health-tested parents matter for behavior too. We do OFA hip and elbow testing plus Embark genetic testing because pain and health issues can absolutely cause behavioral problems. A puppy that grows up with hip dysplasia might become snappy or withdrawn, and you'd never know why without proper health screening.
